Hebrews 11:7 says, “By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.”- NKJV

After moving to Moncton in 1998, God gave me a vision for an apostolic church that would have influence in our region and abroad. We remind ourselves often of this vision because great vision requires great commitment. Vision will always be tested by time delays, disappointments and reasons to abandon the work, so there are some factors that we should be aware of.

“The journey to the promise is as important as it’s fulfillment.”

According to Hebrews 11:3, understanding faith is fundamental to the spiritual life ofall believers. It is essential that visionaries see, not just in the short term, but build for long term generational success. Big visions require deep foundations.

THE TIME FACTOR - “Not Yet Seen”

In order for our life and ministry to please God we need to walk, work and worship in faith. Not every seed of faith germinates and grows at the same pace. Noah laboured in faith for over 100 years building the ark. Noah was asked to build something that seemed seasonallyunnecessary and far too immense for him. You can do less in a one year than you would hope, but you can accomplish more in ten years than you dreamed. Or in this case, over 100.

THE CHARACTER FACTOR - “Moved with Godly Fear”

At times our gifting is stronger than our character. The journey to the promise is as important as its fulfillment. Noah endured not only hard work but challenges to his faith. Habakkuk 2:1-3 tells us that the vision must be plain if we are going to run with it. It takes character to run with something long enough to see it come to pass.

THE RESPONSIBILITY FACTOR - “Noah prepared an ark for the saving of his household”

We stand on the shoulders of those who have believed and sacrificed. Someone had to give, someone had to study and someone had to pray. Drs. George & Hazel as well as others have provided us with an incredible apostolic path to follow. Just as Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute mile barrier, we now have a new understanding that limitations are only opportunities waiting to be broken. Hebrews records a host of those who walked by faith in their generation and affected generations to come.
